The Environmental Studies unit seeks to identify and solve local, regional, and national environmental issues. Our unit is dedicated to studying biological diversity at all levels in terrestrial and marine habitats. We aim to enhance the Arabian Gulf environmental conditions by alleviating anthropogenic and climate change impact.
Inspired by Saudi Vision 2030, "We seek to safeguard our environment by reducing all types of pollution and fighting desertification" (Saudi Vision, 2030, p.23). Our objectives are to create a monitoring scheme of all levels of the region's biodiversity. Special attention will be directed towards identifying fisheries' parasitic burden, studying insect biology and ecology, understanding detoxification mechanisms, and fertility of desert animals. And through collaboration with our partners, our research findings will help improve several economic sectors.
