The Vice Deanship of Development and Community Partnerships holds significant importance for faculty development, academic accreditation, and community services within CAMSJ and IAU as a whole.

Secondly, the Vice Deanship contributes to accreditation efforts by promoting quality assurance, continuous improvement, and adherence to accreditation standards. By engaging with external stakeholders, conducting needs assessments, and aligning institutional practices with accreditation criteria, the Vice Deanship helps to ensure that CAMSJ maintains high academic standards and meets the requirements of accrediting bodies. Moreover, it facilitates the documentation and dissemination of best practices, evidence-based strategies, and outcomes assessment data essential for accreditation reviews and reporting.

 

Finally, the Vice Deanship plays a central role in advancing community services and outreach initiatives that benefits IAU by extending its services to the Jubail community as well as the surrounding areas and the wider community.   • Heath Professions Unit 

The “Health Professions Education Unit (HPEU)” was established as per the administrative orders of the Dean, College of Applied Medical Sciences, Jubail (CAMSJ) on 14.10.2019 and reformed on 21.1.2024. The HPE Unit was entrusted with undertaking the duties and responsibilities related to the Health Professions Education in the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Jubail, IAU. The unit reports to the Vice Dean of Development and Community Partnerships, College of Applied Medical Sciences, Jubail.

GOAL 

To promote excellence in the educational process at College of Applied Medical Sciences, Jubail. 

OBJECTIVES 

  • To promote the use of student-centred active learning and innovative teaching methods confirming to the adult learning principles.
  • To assess the needs of the faculty and provide the faculty development programs for the capacity building of the faculty members.
  • To foster the culture of practicing “Good practices of undergraduate teaching”1 and assessment in health professions education.

  • Quality Academic Accreditation Unit 

The Quality Academic Accreditation Unit is responsible for ensuring compliance with accreditation standards established by relevant accrediting bodies, both nationally and internationally, as applicable to IAU and CAMSJs 3 Academic Programs. This entails the implementation of comprehensive Quality Assurance Systems tailored to IAU specific needs, covering all aspects of academic operations including curriculum development, teaching methodologies, assessment practices, and student support services.

Central to the unit's function is the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date documentation of all academic activities. This includes curriculum plans, syllabi, course materials, assessment records, faculty qualifications, and student outcomes. These records must be organized, accessible, and compliant with regulatory requirements to facilitate transparency and accountability in academic operations.

The unit also plays a crucial role in facilitating continuous improvement processes within academic programs. This involves the systematic evaluation and enhancement of academic offerings based on feedback from stakeholders, including students, faculty, employers, and accrediting bodies. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the unit seeks to ensure that academic programs remain responsive to evolving needs and expectations.

Close coordination with institutional entities is essential to the unit's success. Collaboration with relevant departments, committees, and administrative units ensures alignment of accreditation efforts with broader institutional goals and priorities. By fostering communication and coordination, the unit facilitates the sharing of best practices and resources across departments, enhancing the overall quality of academic programs.

Preparation for accreditation reviews is a key responsibility of the unit. This involves the compilation of comprehensive documentation and evidence to support accreditation reviews conducted by external accrediting bodies. The unit coordinates site visits, meetings, and presentations as required during the accreditation process, ensuring readiness to address inquiries and provide clarification on academic matters.

Professional development is prioritized within the unit to ensure staff members involved in accreditation-related activities remain well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills. This includes staying abreast of developments in accreditation standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and enhancement of accreditation efforts.

Regular reporting and compliance are essential aspects of the unit's function. The unit prepares regular reports on accreditation status, progress, and outcomes for internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and external accrediting bodies. Timely submission of required reports and documentation is ensured to maintain compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, thereby upholding the institution's commitment to academic excellence and accountability.

 

  • Community Partnership and Service Unit

The Community Partnership and Service Unit is dedicated to fostering meaningful collaborations between CAMSJ mainly in Jubail and the surrounding community. Through strategic partnerships and service initiatives, the unit aims to contribute positively to the social, cultural, and economic development of the community while enriching the educational experience of students.

At the heart of the unit's mission is the cultivation of mutually beneficial relationships with community organizations, government agencies, non-profit entities, and other stakeholders. By identifying shared goals and priorities, the unit facilitates the development of collaborative projects and programs that address community needs and leverage the resources and expertise of both the IAU and its partners.

The unit oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community engagement activities and service-learning initiatives. 

Through its work, the Community Partnership and Service Unit exemplifies CAMSJs commitment to social responsibility, civic engagement, and the public good. By forging strong partnerships and engaging with the community in meaningful ways, the unit helps to strengthen IAU ties to its surrounding community. 

The unit encourages all, at CAMSJ, to log in to their community hours via IAU’s social responsibility bank with the three main components: teaching and learning (curricular and non-curricular); research (social studies & research); community service (developmental projects & community services). We also create volunteer opportunities for CAMSJ’s community and elsewhere via the national volunteer work platform (https://nvg.gov.sa/).

 

  • Alumni Unit

 

The Alumni Unit within CAMSJ is dedicated to fostering lifelong connections and engagement with alumni of IAU. With a focus on building a vibrant and supportive alumni community, the unit seeks to strengthen ties between alumni, current students, faculty, and the broader institution.

At the core of the unit's mission is the cultivation of meaningful relationships with alumni, spanning various generations, disciplines, and geographic locations. By providing opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional development, the unit aims to facilitate ongoing engagement and collaboration among alumni and with CAMSJ.

The unit oversees the development and implementation of programs and initiatives aimed at connecting alumni with each other and with the college/institution. This may include alumni reunions, networking events, career workshops, and educational seminars designed to promote personal and professional growth.

In addition to fostering connections among alumni, the unit also serves as a valuable resource for alumni seeking to stay connected with CAMSJ and give back through their involvement in mentorship programs, and alumni advisory boards.

The unit plays a key role in maintaining communication with alumni through various channels, mainly through social media outlets. By sharing news, updates, and success stories from alumni, the unit helps to celebrate the achievements of alumni and promote a sense of pride and belonging within the alumni community. Through its work, the Alumni Unit contributes to the continued success and vitality of the institution by harnessing the talents, expertise, and resources of alumni to support the mission and goals of CAMSJ.   • Information and Communication Technology Unit

The CAMSJ Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit is dedicated to providing comprehensive technology services and support to meet the diverse needs of the institution's academic, administrative, and research activities. With a focus on innovation, reliability, and user satisfaction.

The ICT Unit collaborates with other units within the different Vice Deanships and with the Dean’s office within CAMSJ to identify technology requirements and opportunities for innovation. By fostering partnerships and leveraging technology solutions, the unit seeks to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of CAMSJ's operations and services.

Through its work, the ICT Unit contributes to the achievement of CAMSJ's strategic goals by enabling excellence in teaching, learning, research, and administration through the effective use of technology. By providing reliable, secure, and user-friendly technology services and support, the ICT Unit helps to empower faculty, staff, and students to succeed in their academic and professional endeavors while advancing the mission of CAMSJ. This unit focuses on keeping the CAMSJ website and faculty profiles updated annually. The unit also launches an IT survey to ensure user satisfaction. Finally, it is also is tasked with following up on the completion of the annual college report with other Vice Deanships and administration at CAMSJ.
