First: Placement:
In the event students submit an approved English language test, they are placed in the appropriate level for General English 101 as follows:

Beginner level) one of the following):
- IELTS Academic (0:3)
- TOEFL iBT (0:19)
- STEP (0:45)
2. Intermediate level (one of the following):
- IELTS Academic (3.5:4.5)
- TOEFL iBT (20:34)
- STEP (46:79)
Second: Exemption:
Students are eligible for exemption (if they want to) from General English (ENGL01) and General English (ENGL02) provided that meet the following requirements:
General English (1) (one of the following):
- IELTS (Academic): An overall score of 5 out of 9, with no band score lower than 5 (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking)
- TOEFL (iBT): An overall score of 48 out of 120, with no section score lower than 12 (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking)
- STEP: An overall score of 80 and above out of 100
General English (2) (one of the following):
- IELTS (Academic): An overall score of 6 out of 9, with no band score lower than 6 (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking)
- TOEFL (iBT): An overall score of 80 out of 120, with no section score lower than 20 (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking)
Notes:
- Students who obtain an exemption, their GPA will be calculated without ENGL 01/02.
- Students are required to submit the exemption application during the period specified by the Deanship at the start of the academic year 1446 H (2024-2025).
- Students must provide a proof of their level of English (IELTS/ TOEFL/ STEP) to be placed in one of the levels (beginner/intermediate/advanced) during their admission process at the start of the academic year 1446 H (2024-2025). Students are automatically placed in the Beginner level in case no approved English language test is provided.
- IELTS/TOEFL validity 2 years from date of issue.
- STEP validity 3 years from date of issue.
- There is no exemption from studying General English program (ENGL111) at the College of Education (Rayan Campus) and College of Kindergarten (Jubail Campus).
- Students must submit the exemption/placement documents through the form provided in the link and complete all information required before last working day of the first week of the academic year 1446iJ (2024-2025).
