Course Description
This course will cover the principles and procedures of professional practice, professional ethics and the responsibilities necessary for an interior architect to practice in the marketplace. In addition, the course will cover the steps for developing, establishing and managing an interior design office. Related topics such as the acquisition of projects, cost analysis and control, time liabilities, preparation of construction documents, review of related papers and legal documents, etc. will be covered. The Professional Practices course will also instruct the students on how to prepare and review personal portfolios, resumes and logos. As a part of the requirements for this class, students will visit interior design offices in order to get a practical understanding of what it takes to run a professional interior design firm by meeting with managers and conducting surveys.
