This course examines occupational health practices needed to address occupational safety and health issues in the workplace. It offers students the opportunity to study modern cutting-edge scientific concepts and research evidence on causation, prevention and management of work-related accidents, injury, and disease. The course also seeks to enable the students to acquire basic knowledge of occupational health and understand how to prevent diseases and injuries caused by conditions at workplace. The topics include occupational health - basic definitions and concepts, chemical, biological, and physical factors at work and development of diseases and injuries, psychosocial factors and health at work, structures and functions of occupational health services and how to care for the workers' health, methods for measurements of work environment factors and health in occupational health settings, and prevention of occupational diseases and injuries
