Course Main Objective
This course aims to explain and clarify the concepts and practices related to the automatic indexing (the bibliographic and authority) and its uses and modern criteria and make student acquire the skill of preparing the electronic record as well as cataloguing according to Resource Description & Access (RDA), and high efficiency in retrieving so that information retrieval is easy and how to use information and communication technology in building the electronic record.

- Definition of Resource Description & Access Criterion.
- Basic principles- aspects of difference between RDA, AACR2
- Functional requirements of the bibliographic records.
- Infrastructure of Resource Description & Access Criterion (RDA) (characteristics- relations- focal elements).
- Book cataloguing according to Resource Description & Access (RDA) Criterion
- Cooperative cataloguing (Arabic Union Catalogue).
