Course Main Objective
This course aims to introduce the basic concepts of book and publishing, control over intellectual productions, copyrights, essence of electronic publishing and its origin and evolution.
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
- 1.1Explain the basic terms of book and publishing, control over intellectual production regarding its domains, limits and procedures and author’s moral and financial rights.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Differentiate between printed and electronic publishing.
- 2.2 Employ information and communication technology in solving the problems that may face traditional and electronic publishing.
- 3. Values
- 1.1 Communicate effectively in teamwork.
Course Content:
- The concept of book and publishing; forms of intellectual theses.
- Control over intellectual production: its domains, limits, procedures and offence penalties.
- Author’s copyright: moral and immoral rights, moral and financial rights, intellectual production to which protection applies, intellectual production which is not protected.
- Publishers and obtaining and assessment of original works: categories of publishers, obtaining and inspection of original works, contract of publication: its characteristics and content.
- Advertising and promotion to increase sales.
- Available market of book: individual market, bookstores market.
- Comparison between printed and electronic publication.
