The Geography of Sustainable Urbanization

Course Main Objective

Differentiate between the rural and city urbanization and the different characteristics and geographic factors which contributed to establishing the urban centers and the different problems of urban environment.

- Importance of Urban Geography and its fields of study.
- City site and situation and the spatial distribution of cities.
- Size and growth of city and theories of size.
- Functions of cities.
- Internal composition and usages of urban lands.
- Urban problems.
- Relation between city and its service and functional region
- The sustainable urban planning and development in Saudi cities and villages: a case study.
