Course Description
This course covers the continuous process involved in creating interior spaces that combine a pleasing aesthetic, the use of seamless joinery details and that are also cost effective. Through the use of well thought out detailing, designers can create a distinctive polished style for their projects by giving their full attention to the construction details, which can make any interior unique. This course addresses topics such as the coordination of basic interior construction detailing, joiner details for different parts of interior architecture, cabinetry elements as well as the general construction of spaces. Detailing is used as a primary design element that is integral to design development, technical drawings, specifications and schedule programming. Students will create both free hand quick sketches as well as Auto CAD produced drawings in order to refine construction details. There will be visits to different project sites that are under construction as well as industrial factories to observe and understand construction materials.
