On Tuesday, March 31, 2015, 40 students from the University of Dammam’s Health Club held an exhibit in order to raise awareness of various chronic diseases.  Dr. Ali Ibn Darid Al Dossary, the Dean of Student Affairs in association with the Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Quality and Student Services, Dr. Maher Ibn Sulaiman Al Qurashi and the campaign’s supervisor, Mr. Sultan Al Otaibi initiated this event.  Dr. Al Dossary noted that, “The Health Club at UoD has a reputation for offering numerous volunteer opportunities for UoD students and others so that they can have that crucial experience of serving their local community.”

During the Chronic Illness Awareness Campaign the students gave visitors free health checkups at the various exhibition booths, including:  measuring body mass, assessing blood pressure and testing for blood sugar levels, just to name a few.  The students handed our informative brochures loaded with suggestions on how to live a healthy and productive life while managing a chronic disease.

The Saudi Diabetes Organization, the Endocrine Association and the Department of Health Affairs at the Saudi National Guard also participated in this exhibit and helped make this Campaign a success.
