The Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Prof. Abdulsalam A. Al-Sulaiman opened the 25th Saudi Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology Annual Conference which was hosted by the University of Dammam represented by the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. The conference started on Monday April, 18 until 20, April 2016 in Le Meriden Al Khobar. It was under the patronage of the President of the University Dr. Abdullah Al Rubaish and was attended by Dr. Khalid Al Otaibi, Director of the University Hospital, a number of Obstetrics & Gynecology specialists and international speakers from Sweden, Britain, Belgium, Korea and India to research the latest updates in the fields of Obstetrics and Gynecology Medicine, Uterus Transplant Evolution, Minimal Invasion Surgeries, Medical Education and Women Health, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Gynecology Oncology.

On behalf of the President of the University, Prof. Abdulsalam A. Al-Sulaiman mentioned that “The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department in King Fahad University Hospital in Al Khobar has achieved so much during its past years and these achievements were the result of the departments’ proficient and competent staff who were surely capable of hosting the conference. The outcome of the conference was beneficial for all the participating doctors and it was the first cooperation between the department and the Saudi Society of Obstetrics & Gynecology and we hope that it will not be the last. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department is considered a referral Department in the Eastern Province especially in the fields of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Gynecologic Laparoscopy and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Dr. Haifa Al Turki, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and Director of the organizing committee affirmed that “The importance of this conference lies in the exchange of experiences, information, knowledge and discussing new and improved methods and to come out with suggestions and recommendations which are beneficial in developing the provided healthcare also this conference is the Saudi Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s 25th ongoing year that were filled with relentless work and massive efforts and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department had the honor to be a part of this scientific forum which is a beacon for all those who seek knowledge.
