Within the scope of IAU's responsibility to care for the safety of its faculty, staff, and visitors, the Deanship of Community Service and Sustainable Development provided self-sterilization units for King Fahd Hospital of the University in Al Khobar.

Prof. Fatima Al-Mulhim mentioned that "We aimed to provide these sterilization units to strengthen the concept of public health of either the hospital's staff or its visitors, especially during the COVID-19 epidemic. Also, to stress the importance of raising health awareness in society to limit the virus's spread. Prof. Al-Mulhim noted that "These units are compatible with the requirements of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. The sterilizer works automatically when a person passes through and it ensures a very high level of sterilization, clears all germs and unsafe particles from one's clothing without the need for human intervention.

The units were provided in collaboration with a national company to achieve its community service initiatives by limiting the spread of COVID-19 through prevention.
