IAU Organizes a Workshop on Sustainable Development and the Role of Saudi Universities
Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University represented by the Vice-Deanship for Sustainable Development at the Deanship of Community Service and Sustainable Development, organized a workshop entitled (Sustainable Development and the Role of Saudi Universities) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Planning. For her part, the Dean of Community Service and Sustainable Development, Prof. Dr. Prof. Fatimah Al-Mulhim, explained that the Deanship seeks to activate the university’s role in community service a way that meets the needs of today's society and future generations. Given the above coordination, the Director General of the General Department for Strategy and Alignment at the Sustainable Development Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Economy and Planning, Mr. Majid Al Asfour, presented a workshop which has shed light on the following themes: The goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which are in line with the goals of sustainable development, in all its three dimensions (environmental, economic, and social) and the role of universities in achieving sustainable development through these dimensions.
The Vice-Dean for Sustainable Development Affairs, Dr. Mai Al-Jamea stated that the workshop gained a great response from the attendees as the number of registered persons reached 975 from all different sectors of society, calling for more workshops that contribute to sustainable development.
At the end of the workshop, Al-Mulhim concluded by offering her thanks to Mr.Majid Al Asfour for his effort in preparing and coordinating the organization of the workshop in light of the current circumstances. Further, the University, represented by the Deanship for Community Service, has offered thanks and appreciation to the Deputy Minister of Economy and Planning, Mr. Faisal Al Ibrahim, for his quick response and approval for the holding the workshop and to the University’s Vice President for Development, Studies and Community Services Prof. Abdullah Al-Kadi, for his continuous support to the Deanship.
