On Sunday, June 4, 2023, the president of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rubaish, inaugurated the College of Science “Annual Scientific Forum” and the accompanied “Scientific Poster Exhibition” which comes as one of the initiatives of the college’s 2nd strategic plan (2023-2025): within its 2nd strategic objective toward excellence in scientific research and innovation.
The forum was implemented by the College Vice Presidency for Scientific Research and Innovation and the Center of Basic and Applied Scientific Research in Al-Rayyan. It was held in the Al-Rayyan campus and was attended by the Vice President for Scientific Research and Innovation, Dr. Fahad Al-Harbi and the Director of Public Relations and Media Information, Dr. Tufail Al-Yousef.
His Excellency the President, Dr. Al-Rubaish, assured that one of the visions of IAU is to seek prominence in the fields of scientific research, discovery, and consulting studies to create a culture of inquisitiveness, entrepreneurship, and innovation. He added that the university is constantly supported by the leaders -may God protect them-, which constituted a great incentive allowing the university to delve into all fields of knowledge, particularly scientific research. It also contributed to allowing the university to occupy a respected position among its Saudi university counterparts. It additionally encouraged increasing the number of publications in globally classified scientific journals as the university publishes around 5 scientific research daily and 150 scientific research monthly, which strengthened its presence locally and globally in the classification of the universities of emerging economies countries and in the (QS) World University Ranking.
The Vice President for Research and Innovation, Dr. Fahad Al-Harbi, added that the College of Science continues its endeavor to support distinguished scientific research by providing a motivating environment that supports excellence and creativity for researchers. It also participates in solving community problems by conducting research and providing scientific and professional consultations that keep pace with the constant development. Finally, it encourages the production and dissemination of knowledge, and it supports sustainable national development through the Center of Basic and Applied Scientific Research.
The Dean of the College of Science and Director of the Center of Basic and Applied Scientific Research, Dr. Amal Al-Otaibi, confirmed that the “1st Annual Scientific Forum 2023” came to achieve the objectives of the College of Science which aligns with the University’s objectives in supporting the scientific research and innovation system. It happens by providing high-quality research that contributes to promoting the objectives of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision. It also contributes to achieving a global competitiveness index in the field of scientific research and development as well as supporting human talents and capabilities in that field by targeting researchers of various sustainable national categories.
