Qamra Al Bukahami – The Department of Communication and Information Technology

An exhibition entitled: Farewell King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz was held on Thursday February 12, 2015 at the University of Dammam’s College of Arts and focused on the late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz’s numerous achievements.

The exhibition was attended by Dr. Amera Al Jafery, Dean of the College of Arts, along with faculty, students, administrators, staff and representatives from the Al Kalthomi Group, the official sponsors of this exhibition. 

The Bayah or oath of allegiance to King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince Mugrin Bin Abdulaziz and the Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Naif began the ceremony.

This was followed by a presentation that gave an overview of the highlights of the late King’s life. 

The exhibition highlighted his achievements, such as:

  • Implementing the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Scholarship Program.
  • Improving the overall state of public education in the Kingdom and expanding the university system to a total of 27 universities.
  • Establishing the National Anti-Corruption Commission known as Nazaha.
  • Supporting the Real Estate Development Fund and numerous housing projects.
  • Establishing the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Economic City.
  • Supporting the Ministry of Health with over 16 Billion riyals in funding.
  • Supporting various sports and literary clubs.
  • Establishing the National Program for Unemployed Citizens known as Hafiz.
  • Ensuring the active participation of women in the Shura Council.

King Abdullah once stated that he supported and felt that he was a part of his people’s hopes and dreams and that he strived to ensure the comfort and safety of his people.  

The idea for this celebration of the King’s life was Nouf Alrasheed’s, a public relations officer at UoD and was supervised by Dr. Latifah Al Mutlaq of the History Department.  The exhibit was organized by Huda Alqarni, Fawzia Aldhailan, Abeer Aljassim and Sabah Alqadi and the Al Kalthomi Group was the exhibit’s official sponsor.
