In response to the initiative of enhancing the role of Saudi universities in field of social responsibility launched by the Saudi Ministry of Education, the national “Dafeh” program (defend in English) was inaugurated for the purpose of protecting the society with safety human shields through training the biggest possible number of community members on skills to prevent disaster risks, protect lives and property, organize and manage crowds in case of contingencies.

- Mission: Achieving leadership in protecting society with safety human shields and ensuring civil safety in safe ways according to international quality standards.
Objectives:
- To spread awareness in society and the ability to take all possible measures to alleviate human suffering resulting from disasters and reduce expected losses.
- To enhance the principle of volunteering by linking qualified individuals with approved licenses to the competent authorities (civil defense - the Red Crescent - ...) to be the first line for defense in the event of a disaster.
- To build a network of relationships with other local and international agencies specialized in disaster and crisis management.
- To develop belonging to the homeland and a sense of responsibility towards society and enhance personal skills.
