Course Description
This unit provides students with the knowledge to operate as an independent practitioner working independently or as part of a health care or emergency service team when dealing with trauma. Emphasis will be placed on obtaining an understanding of the pathophysiology associated with traumatic conditions and international evidenced based practice implemented to treat them. This topic covers basic trauma management in the pre hospital setting. Concepts of the patterns and mechanisms of injury are introduced. Specific types of injuries and how they are managed are explored in detail.
