Course Discription
This course is meant to provide introduction to basic concepts, laws, and applications of thermodynamics. The concept of thermodynamic systems, thermal equilibrium, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd laws of thermodynamics are discussed. The major thermodynamic quantities such as temperature, internal energy, work, heat, entropy, and the thermodynamic potentials are introduced. Applications of thermodynamic concepts to topics such as heat engines and refrigerators, the expansion of gases and changes of phase are also covered.
