Course Description
This course seeks to provide the student with knowledge and skills related to the concept of risk and how to manage it, the concept and types of investment risks and the interaction between them, and to identify the concept, effects and how to measure: interest rate risks, credit risks, risks of financial failure, leverage risks, risks of dealing in foreign currencies, and finally the risks of Islamic banks.
Course Aims
By the end of this course the student will be able to acquire the following skills and knowledge:
- The concept of risks and their characteristics and the distinction between their different types and sources,
- The concept of investment risks, their different types, the interaction between them, and ways to measure them.
- The concept of interest rate risk, the importance of studying it, its effects and the models used to measure it.
- The concept of credit risks, their forms, and their relationship to the characteristics of banking work, and the means to reduce them and ways to measure them.
- The risks associated with financial leverage, how they are measured, and the means to reduce their risks,
- • The concept of the risks of financial failure, and the parties concerned with forecasting it, its stages, and how tomeasure it.
- The concept of the risks of dealing in foreign currencies, their types, how to measure them, and the means to reduce them.
- The risks to which Islamic banks are exposed, how to measure them, and ways to confront them.
