Course Main Objective
To develop the rhythm sense through learning the poetic meters and the changes that have occurred in the system of rhythm and rhyme, types of its reconstructing; to make students recognize such rules governing the Arabic sounds through knowing rhyme particles and patterns.
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
- 1.1 Explain the poetic meters, rhyme particles, patterns, types and drawbacks.
- 1.2 Mention what has been recently introduced in the poetic prosody and such developments that have occurred in the system of rhymes.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Differentiate between the rhyming and broken verse and such necessities that happened to it.
- 2.2 Strike a balance between what has been introduced in the Arabic poetic meters and the foot poetry and the prose poem.
- 2.3 Use communication and information technology and learning resources effectively orally and in writing upon performing course work and assignments.
- 3. Values
- 3.1 Assume individual, collective and leading responsibility and respect personal relationships and what has been entrusted with including poetry and its music-related assignments.
- 3.2 Observe scientific integrity and ethics as a responsible citizen upon taking the course exams and assignments.

10. Types of reconstructing in the rhythm and rhyme system and the scholars' opinion on it.
11. System of foot poetry and its methods in the feet and rhymes.
- Difference between the free verse and the prose poem and between both and the rhyming-metered poetry.
