Course Main Objective
The course aims to provide students with the cognitive competences that enable them to build scientific knowledge in field of preparation and production radio and TV programs, through the following:
- Acquiring skills of preparing and producing radio and TV programs in their different forms and types.
- Ability to use the studio with its different devices.
- Ability to judge the policy of producing and planning the program and training courses.
- Ability to give opinion on research results of listeners and viewers.
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
- 1.1 Define the concept and tools of essential skills for preparing and producing radio and TV programs with their different forms, types and artistic templates.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Recognize writing skills for radio and TV according to nature and properties of radio as an audio means and TV as an audio-video means.
- 2.2 Use IT in the technique, preparation, implementation and presentation of radio and TV programs and recognize the policy of programs and courses production and planning and further measure the feedback through research on the listeners and viewers.
- 3. Values
- 3.1 Practice preparing and producing radio and TV programs according to the media professional ethics and media code of ethics.
Course Content
- Constituents of the art of radio and TV production
- Identifying the writing rules for radio and TV according to nature and properties of the concerned means.
- Programs forms and types in radio and TV
- Developing programs for each of which not only in content but also in the artistic templates used in drafting such content.
- The program form or template, presenting and classifying the programs relating to radio and TV, their forms, different types and definition
- Direct talk
- Dialogue shows: dialogue or interview, including: - argument talk- information talk- character talk
- Talk show- entertainment and variety programs- discussion and symposium programs- variety programs, family light programs, competition programs, show programs, sports programs, exciting programs.
- Oral programs in many forms: discussions and symposia, direct talk, the cultural magazine- feature programs:
- Arkan programs, service programs, special programs, religious programs.
- Radio variety magazine: Al-Atheer magazine, the TV variety magazine, TV magazine.
- Radio and TV specialized magazine programs including:
- Woman programs, kids' programs, youth programs, radio and TV magazine programs.
- Specific sectors and category-oriented programs (agriculture sector, labors sector, and so on and so forth), educational programs.
- News programs- radio reportage- documentary programs in radio and TV
- Study programs and dram writings
- Direct talk programs
- Constituents of success to direct talk programs based upon the aim adopted by radio or TV station.
- Types of direct talk: social, guiding, entertaining, educational.
- Talk shows:
- Dialogue or interview including many types: argument talk- information talk, character talk.
- Discussion and symposia programs and their nature
- Difference between discussion and symposia programs
- Difference between discussion programs and interview programs
- Types of discussion programs: round table discussion, the symposium, group discussion, the debate.
- Entertainment programs and variety programs: such as family light programs, competition and puzzle programs, exciting character and sports programs.
- Educational awareness programs: an introduction to define culture with some of its definitions- nature of cultural programs- content or substance- cultural program and interest in cultural activities, literature topics, poetry, novel, theatre, language, cinema sciences, plastic arts and interest in book.

- Nature and forms of educational programs: - educational programs for preschool age kids, school educational programs, adult educational program, supplemental instruction- education and the open university and distance education- presentation of some experiments- use radio and TV in solving issues of lack of teaching staff in developing countries.
