Course Main Objective

To enable students to be acquainted with the difference between news writing and creative writing, aims of press editing, elements of news item, worth of news item, news writing, editing and covering along with deducting press editing templates.

Course Learning Outcomes

To define and differentiate between news item and press report; types, sources and worth of news item; how to write news item and report using press templates and differentiate between the creative writing and the news writing.

• Headline in journalism writing, functions of headline, characteristics of writing headline.
• Analysis of news item, press report, its functions and methods of writing press report.
• Types of press reports, news reports, live reports, portrait report.
