Course Main Objective
To learn about topics of modern literature and the factors which affect its renaissance and trends as well as its manifestations of revival.
Course Learning Outcomes

- 1.1 Explain the factors which affected renaissance of modern literature and formed its attitudes, its manifestations of revival, the most prominent writers and development stages of prosaic genres.

- 2.1 Unveil effect of the coming ideas on modern literature models.
- 2.2 Use communication and information technology and learning resources and communicate orally and in writing effectively upon performing the modern literature-related assignments.

- 3.1 Assume individual, collective and leading responsibility and respect personal relationships upon performing the modern literature and its texts-related assignments.
- 3.2 Perform the literary assignments observing scientific research ethics and academic integrity achieving traits of responsible citizen.
Course Content
1. An introduction to the course and its requirements.
2. Timeframe of the modern age
3. The factors which affected literature renaissance during the studied period.
4. The revival attitude in poetry and its first indications and stages of beginnings and maturity for some poets.
5. Features of the attitude influenced by the western romanticism in poetry and the literary groups: (Diwan group, the Apollo group- Al-Mahjar literature).
6. Manifestations of revival and experiment:
7. Dramatic poetry, foot poetry, prose poem.
8. Modern artistic manifestations:
9. Overlapping of genres, recalling, symbol and myth), children's literature (poetry and prose).
10. Comparison between modern poetic experiments and the preceding ones.
11. A dialogue between the critics about the modern poetry movement (modernism)
12. Prosaic genres: (origin and development and most prominent writers).
13. Essay and very short story.
14. Biography, novel, drama.
15. Impact of some foreign ideological ideas coming from abroad on literature movement in the modern age: approaching, up and down.
16. Applications:
- Works and models form the modern Arabic literature cover the different literary genres selected by the instructor from the modern Arabic literature.
