Course Main Objective
The course aims to learn about schools of discourse analysis, different approaches to analysis as well as analysis of the media, advertising texts and images.
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
- 1.1 Know about principles of content analysis, the linguistic styles used in writing and editing a journalistic text and role and indications of image in a journalistic text.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Deduct semantic meanings in journalistic texts and decide on their signs and symbols.
- 2.2 Design a discourse analysis form using IT in learning about schools of journalistic criticism and analysis and the discourse analysis of online newspaper.
- 3. Values
- 3.1 Grow spirit of dialogue and discussion and positive disagreement among students.

- Discourse criticisms and analysis.
- Cinematic indications of the image.
- Criticism and analysis of news image.
- Analysis of advertising text and posters.
- Analysis of the opinion article.
- Exercises on analyzing and criticizing the news image.
- Exercises on analyzing and correcting news item.
