Course Description
An introduction to a comprehensive study of the concepts and principles used for an appropriate selection of natural, synthetic and smart materials. It will explore the materials used for residential, commercial, and different interiors in the local and international market. Students will be introduced to the material characteristics, physical and chemical properties, uses, maintenance, safety and health hazards, environmental impact, availability, and cost. Also, a survey of the application of interior finishes and materials to interior space elements (walls, floors, ceilings, stairs, and exterior elevations) is conducted. The course will be conducted through a serious of lectures and student presentations. And by the end of the course students will compile a material board for a design project.
