Course Description
The course will provide a historical survey of visual communication through socio-cultural, political, and economic lenses to gain a perspective on how design has been shaped and how it can be relevant to the study and practice of contemporary design. The development of critical, analytical, and writing skills will be significant in this course through looking at visual communication design work from a range of perspectives: formal design aspects, technical aspects and innovations, social/ political/ historical context, intended message and audience, and personal and cultural expression.
