Course Main Objective
To deal clarify nature of Geography (natural and human) and its main subjects and syllabus and applying them practically in research projects and linking it with the environment and its impact on sustainability of development; to prepare scientific research in modern fields of geography for achieving sustainability particularly new disciplines such as Geography of Communications, Hydrogeography, Geography of Natural Hazards through office work and continuous work and training within the environment to crystalize the spatial knowledge of geography; to implement geographic research project which represents an outline of all what has been acquired from skills of criticism, analysis and the sustainable spatial thinking and employ all of this in providing solutions to such problems that community may suffer.
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
- 1.1 Classify sources of data relating to topic of the research and stages of the scientific research including problem of the study, the geographic methodology, its methods, hypotheses, importance, literature review and other stages till completion of the research.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Differentiate among the geographic phenomena and their properties nationally and internationally and the goals of sustainable development to transform the geographic proposal into integrated geographic research.
- 2.2 Use the statistical programs and GIS programs to prepare maps and different statistics and forms to complete the scientific research.
- 3. Values
- 3.1 Appreciate teamwork self-work, community responsibility and citizenship.
Course Content:
1. Revision of methods for preparing scientific research and research ethics, professional integrity, main methodologies in geography and link them with the sustainable development, the techniques and writing style along with reviewing tools and means of research including steps of how to write and prepare a geographic research and link it with the sustainable development and propose research topics.
2. Identify the idea of research, select its topic and divide work into groups.
3. Submit students' research proposal
4. Follow up how to write the research (practically) and review methods of geographic representation and different methods of field work to show the geographic data.
5. Follow up the geographic research and review methods of data analysis and make use of them in the sustainable development.
6. Discuss the research problems and find out solutions.
7. Discuss the researches.
