Course Description
This course is concerned with studying the nature of the activity of financial institutions, the accounting system in commercial banks, documentary courses and accounting for operations in the technical departments of commercial banks, as well as the accounting system in Islamic banks, and the accounting system in insurance companies
Course Aims
By the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Identifying the different types of financial institutions and their procedures.
- Familiarize yourself with the accounting work procedures for each type of financial institution and its various sections
- Knowing how to analyze financial operations in different establishments
- Studying how to prepare and analyze financial statements in commercial banks
- Studying the functions and characteristics of the Islamic bank and how to account for the activities of banking services, and the preparation and analysis of financial statements in these banks.
- Study the characteristics and nature of insurance companies and the components of their accounting system, and how to account for insurance operations.
- Studying how to prepare financial statements in insurance companies.
Course Contents:
- Types of banks and their functions, and knowledge of the technical departments in commercial banks
- Work procedures in the section (Treasury - Current Accounts - Deposits) and the manner of accounting treatment.
- Work procedures in the section (securities - commercial papers) and the manner of accounting treatment.
- Work procedures in the section (Documentary Credits, Letters of Guarantee) and how to handle accounting.
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements in commercial banks
- Study the functions and characteristics of an Islamic bank, how to account for banking services activities, and prepare and analyze financial statements in these banks.
- Study the characteristics and nature of insurance companies and the components of their accounting system, and how to account for insurance operations.
- Preparing financial statements for insurance companies.
