Course Main Objective
This course aims to introduce students to English terms and concepts in Library & Information Science along with explaining their linguistic connotations, meanings and correlations as well as their uses in workplace.
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
- 1.1 Explain concepts of English texts in Library & Information Science.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Translate some library articles from English to Arabic and vice versa.
- 2.2 Use information technology effectively when communicating in speech and in writing.
- 3. Values
- 3.1Bear self-learning responsibility; continue personal and professional development and work in group effectively.
Course Content:
- Define the mentioned technical terms and how to pronounce and inflect.
- Train over writing the mentioned terms and their derivatives, if any.
- Translate texts sentence by sentence and explain what is denoted and what is connoted.
- Formulate and revise texts and write them in Arabic.
- Train over possibility of writing some paragraphs of texts in different styles.
- Define some abbreviations in field of Library & Information Science.
- Translate a text in field of library and information.
