Course Description
The senior thesis is intended to verify the student’s ability to conceive, plan and execute a body of work appropriate to a professional exhibition. In this final design studio, students synthesize their acquired knowledge and skills to develop design projects that are built from their thesis proposals from the last term into a significant design project. Students will explore different possibilities of communicating design through a variety of conventional and unconventional treatments, applications and experimentation with diverse graphic media. It can take many various or combination of forms: print, publication, web, interactive multimedia, or animation; the specifics will vary significantly from project to project. The studio emphasis is underpinned by one-on-one critiques and jury review sessions involving other design instructors and guest critics. At the end of the term, students produce a complete documentation of their thesis research, process, and project. Also, completed projects are presented in a final exhibition for evaluation to a jury of faculty members and invited professionals. The show is then open to the public and the design network in the region.
