Course Description
This course involves an examination of palm tree etymology, types of dates, historical use of palm trees .The course also examines the use of tissue culture studies, pollination and harvesting operations, and marketing aspects. Information is about palm tree adaptation to environments, and the physical, chemical, and structural characteristics of dates. The date palm genome in the context of microbial diseases and pests on plants and fruits is also examined.
Course Objectives & Outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify characteristics of palm trees and fruits which are considered economically important plants in Saudi Arabia.
- Identify a variety of scientific information, and be exposed to research and scientific studies from around the world.
