Course Main Objective
To learn about the radio performance and master the art of programs presentation and methods of persuasion and be acquainted with the announcer's main tools and characteristics.
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
- 1.1 Define the concept and characteristics of elocution and its essential rules in ratio and TV.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Employ nature of text difference and how to convey ideas and information and arts of speaking in order to handle such common errors found in radio and TV elocution.
- 2.2 Acquire presentation skills of methods of elocution and ability to improvise.
- 3. Values
- 3.1 Apply the elocution in some forms of radio and TV programs; make logically-proved decisions within a teamwork.
Course Content
- The concept of elocution- its essential rules
- Phonetics and articulation of sounds in Arabic language
- Voice and presentation (importance of voice and presentation for the announcer- production of speech)
- Annoincer's traits, qualifications and responsibilities
- Language and speech (what is language and what is speech- sounds in a language)
- Relation between image and sound
- Announcer and art of conveying information (using the text- elocution and nature of text difference- methods to convey ideas and information- announcer and ability to improvise- common errors in radio elocution)
- The announcer and microphone (essential rules of dealing with the microphone- implementing on-air broadcasting)
- The announcer and camera (speaking on camera- talking to camera- non-verbal communication- work with the teleprompter- common errors in TV elocution)
- How to receive instructions in front of camera- methods of elocution- presentation skills- announcer and improvisation
- The art of elocution and outdoor shooting- recorder- live broadcasting
- Practical applications to presenting some forms of radio and TV programs
