Course Main Objective
To study the ancient Arabic criticism explaining development of the Arabic criticism and its attitudes, issues, artistic and aesthetic basics and its scholars’ original efforts.

- Definition of criticism, its development and basics and the characteristics of the prominent and creative critic.
- Contribution of the linguists and grammarians to the ancient Arabic criticism.
- Critical basics of the Arab legacy:
- Criteria of meaning criticism.
- Basics of word criticism.
- Subjectivity and objectivity in criticism and their manifestations in the ancient Arabic criticism.
- The munificent Quran’s impact on the ancient Arabic criticism.
- The most important critical issues concerned about by the ancient Arabic criticism, its terms and its role in constituting the contemporary Arabic theory of criticism.
- Origins of relation between the rhetoric and the ancient Arabic criticism.
- Analysis of critical texts.
