Master in Clinical Nursing Science - Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing

The Master of Science degree in Clinical Nursing focusing on Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing is designed to provide a cost-effective, high quality; evidence based nursing care for women and their newborn babies throughout their maternity cycle. Candidates will be prepared to be maternity care professionals to provide health care, education and support to women during pregnancy, labor and delivery and the postpartum period. They will be trained to be sensitive to the individual needs of women, to detect problems throughout the childbearing cycle and to link families with additional medical and social services as needed.

The theoretical and clinical courses will prepare the graduates for the crucial role of being present and helpful during the whole process of childbirth with a strong foundation in evidence-based maternity care practices proven to be safe and effective. The clinical courses will be comprehensive and diverse, including nursing, midwifery and medical experiences in clinical settings.

The program of study consists of the required courses in addition to the clinical research project. Students are expected to complete four semesters with 42 credit hours (core courses (10 credits), specialty and elective courses (28 credits), clinical research project (4 credits) and 650 hours training in the area of specialization.
