The main purpose of the Medical Surgical Nursing Master’s Program is to prepare registered nurses for advanced practice, as educators and for leadership positions in health care. In addition, studying at the MSN level develops clinical competence and increased sophistication in applying a theoretical framework for the nursing practice. 

The program of study consists of the required coursework in addition to the clinical research project. Students are expected to complete four semesters of 42 credit hours (core courses (10 credits), specialty and elective courses (28 credits), a clinical research project (4 credits) and 650 hours training in the area of specialization.
