TabsOverviewThe Ophthalmology Fellowship Program was established in 1985 and it's commitment to excellence in education has ensured that a continuous stream of highly trained ophthalmologists are available to provide care for the citizens of the Eastern Province and the country as well. In 2007 the program teamed up with the Saudi Board of Ophthalmology and as a result at the end the training the residents are eligible to receive both IAU’s Fellowship and the Saudi Board’s Fellowship of Ophthalmology. The program lasts for four years. During the first year of the fellowship, residents will go in depth into the basic sciences as they apply to clinical ophthalmology in the Basic Sciences course. Later on, the program provides the residents with intensive clinical experience during rotations in subspecialties such as: anterior segment, cornea and external diseases, retina, oculoplastic and pediatric ophthalmology. The program also provides the residents with experience in preoperative and postoperative care for all common ocular surgical procedures.
