Lab Description
Histology lab deals with techniques aim to preserve human’s tissues with their anatomical details for as long as possible until diagnosis is made. It includes thin sections preparation, tissues staining, and microscopic examination. Cytology studies details of individual cell (types, numbers, sizes and shapes) in tissues or body fluids to help determining any abnormalities and correlate them with disease states.
Aims
- To expose the students to a wide range of techniques involved in histological preparations.
- To give the students the opportunity to develop their observation skills, recording and data interpretation skills.
Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to understand the theoretical aspects behind the techniques used and their role in case diagnosis.
- Get familiar with normal and abnormal tissue or cell details to achieve the proper diagnosis.
Techniques Applied
- Tissue Processing.
- Microtomy or tissue cutting.
- Staining (routine and special staining).
