The Quality Skills Enhancement Unit laisse with vice-deanship of Quality at the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation. The unit provides training programs that enhance the quality assurance skills of the university's employees, including Faculty and administrative staff, which would contribute to the betterment of work performance and high efficiency to achieve academic accreditation and excellence. The ultimate goal of the unit is to improve quality assurance and academic accreditation practices, which will benefit various entities such as academic programs, colleges, supporting deanships, departments, centers and scientific research institutes of the university.
Training Objectives:
- To develop the skills of academic faculty and administrative staff by offering training courses and workshops to provide them with technical skills that help them improve the quality of academic and administrative work related to the teaching-learning process, close its quality loop, and achieve the objectives of the various bodies to obtain national and international academic accreditation (programmatic and institutional), leading to institutional excellence and international classification and ranking.
- To enhance proactive thinking to manage risks, ensure business continuity and improve preparedness to deal with disasters and crises.
- To develop the level of performance of university employees in digitizing quality assurance processes through training on the use of electronic quality systems to perform work more effectively.
- To promote culture of quality among university employees by providing them with the necessary information and skills that contribute to reducing technical errors while performing work.
- Instill a culture of quality and sustainability of the work environment at deanships and administrative units through training to obtain accredited certificates in quality management systems and ISO.
- To invest in distinguished faculty members, qualifying them and preparing them as quality academic practitioners and reviewers through training courses in collaboration and coordination with the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment at the Education and Training commission, in order to create a rich database of university cadres and reduce dependence on external experts, specialists and trainers.
- To implement cooperative training programs with various community educational institutions.
Training Plan and Timeline:
Skills Enhancement Unit prepares a training plan for each semester of the academic year within a clear timeline agreed upon in advance with the Quality vice-deanship and the Vice Deanship for Academic Accreditation. These training workshops could be general or specialized workshops based on prior identified needs of specific parties. The training plan includes several skills related to the following:
- Managing the quality assurance system and closing the quality loop
- Academic accreditation (programmatic and institutional)
- ISO Qualification
- Risk Management
- Performance measurement and indicators
- use of the electronic systems for quality
- Institutional Excellence
- Universities World Rankings
Mechanism of enrollment in training
The training plan is announced at the beginning of the semester of the academic year through the internal administrative communications to all colleges, supporting deanships, departments, institutes and centers of the university. The announcement is also done via the Public Relations and Media Directorate e-mail and externally through the Deanship's social media accounts. University employees may browse the training platform of the Deanship by clicking on the link: http://qse.iau.deu.sa in order to view the available training workshops and related information such as date, time, place, speaker, target group, method of application, number of vacant seats to choose the appropriate training workshop. The unit filters the registrants and then sends an email to confirm the registration, and along with sending notification prior to the workshop.
Evaluation of Training
to ensure that the training objectives have been achieved, the unit measures the performance by surveying the participants’ opinion at the end of each training workshops, whether concluded in-person, or remotely for the purpose of improvement via (http://qse.iau.deu.sa).
External Training:
The unit also provides training services in compliance with the highest quality standards to external beneficiaries. External beneficiaries can also view the training plan and full information through the training platform (http://qse.iau.deu.sa) or the Deanship social media accounts.
