Teach history in the public schools after they have completed their teaching credentials. Pursue a career in the public sector working for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture, Media or Hajj. Work for the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) as researchers, advisors or guides of the numerous archaeological and heritage sites in the Kingdom. Establish their careers working in museums as curators, researchers and advisors. Work for the various Hajj and Umrah operators as a guide. Establish a career as a political analyst, newsreader or writer working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs both locally and in the Arab world working in all types of media. Work in various aspects of the private sector. Pursue a diplomatic career in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs or Hajj and help coordinate dialog with outside entities. AdmissionFirst: Admission to the College of Arts General Requirements The applicant must pass all the first year (College of Arts Track) courses. The applicant must obtain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3 out of 5. Second: Controls of specialization in the College of Arts: Admission is by differentiation based on grade point average and the availability of seats. English Language Department requirements: (Earning C rating and above in English Language Course 1 and English language Course 2) Year descriptionFirst year During this first year the students will study a broad range of subjects that will introduce them to various disciplines in the arts and humanities realm. This exposure will help them make an informed decision on what academic path they wish to pursue in the following years. They will earn 36 credit hours during this first year. Second Year In the second year the students begin to study specialized topics in the field of history such as: an introduction to history, the history of the Ancient Near East, the Greeks, the Romans, Islamic history and the history of Europe in the Middle Ages. Third year During the third year the students will cover subjects such as: the history of the Umayyads, the Abbasids, Islamic Morocco and modern Europe. Fourth Year In this final year the students will study the history of Islamic systems, modern history of the Arabs, Orientalism, the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and examine the, methods used in historical research, as well as the contemporary history of Europe. Each student is required to successfully complete a graduation project.
